Irene's 50th birthday at Thai restaurant....

Steel framework has been delivered and is being erected on the site of one of the bedrooms/study/ensuite bathrooms. Rain has been inhibiting work but nevertheless the construction is now experiencing a growth spurt!

Our extremely big rain water tank gets delivered. Do you think it will do the job?

The Golden Orb has had very good innings, meaning undisturbed in his/her ideal spot, free from foot traffic. So, we watch as each day the web grows in all directions. Hmmm....a little like our house up north....

Last week, despite torrential rains in the north, the builders were able to get some cladding up on the garage level and even install a window....

Now, here's someone you don't get to see very often. Martin caught a shot of me, and I caught Carol.

Sunday brunch at Mandy & Paul's place....We had a great time checking out their garden which is a small parkland of native shrubs & trees. Inspiration for Mitchells Island.

Look carefully and you will see the home of a golden orb spider. In fact, you might even see him/her at home. The web goes from the shrubs into the trees and is 3-dimensional, as well. The spider has chosen a beaut piece of real estate, free from rising sea levels, bush fires, and even careening late-night pedestrians (sorry Jess)....

I believe this bird is called a striated (mangrove) heron. He/she stopped in for a visit this afternoon, more likely for a feed in the tidal flats....
